My Inheritance

People often say that I look just like my mother and/or father. As I age, I've noticed not that my face resembles more or less of either parent, but that my mind has begun to resemble both. I grew up without any knowledge of why I was diagnosed with anxiety and borderline personality disorder (BPD). This created disorientation in my identity until I realized my father's behaviour was, in fact, BPD as well. I have inherited more than their eyes.

The center is a silkscreened 8ft hand drawn image derived from a childhood photo. My face has been cut out to reveal mirrored glass, metaphorically reflecting the nature of a child's face in comparison to their parents. When not reflecting any one individual, the space of the child's face reflects their surrounding environment.
